Physical Activity

Increasing your physical activity has many health benefits. Even small increases in activity
levels can improve your health. In fact, we see the steepest rise in benefits from physical
activity when someone changes their levels from doing nothing to just doing something.
These are the Chief Medical Officer’s recommendations and some of the benefits:

For Adults:

Tips for increasing your physical activity:

  • If you are not currently active start slowly and build up gradually
  • Set realistic goals
  • Do something you enjoy
  • Engage friends and family eg meet up for a walk
  • Build into your daily routine eg take the stairs rather than a lift or walk some or all of
    the way to work
